Team TRIPP’s Favorite Video Game Hacks

I don’t think you’ll be surprised to know that team TRIPP is a bunch of gaming nerds. When we’re not helping you get into your flow state with a Focus TRIPP, you can find us exploring fantastical worlds and battling epic enemies crafted by incredible artists. We’re constantly dipping into these inspiring worlds, and they not only entertain us, but also fuel our creativity. That’s why we’ve compiled our favorite hacks from some of the best games out there. From mastering dodge tactics in Elden Ring to uncovering secret warp zones in classic Mario Bros., these tips will delight you and just might help you dominate like you never have before. The next time you’re in these incredible games, remember these tricks from the TRIPP team. You deserve a break today!

Elden Ring tip by David Schwartz

Find the Flail inside one of the carriage chests near the Gatefront site of grace, find a golden four-toed fowl foot (one is near a small hill crucifix in West Limgrave), get Torrent, run all the way to the Dragonbarrow Site of Grace, repeatedly smack the large sick white dragon, when it has 1/4 HP, eat the fowl foot, kill it, easy 90k runes that now put you in lvl 50 ish and at advantage to weather the rest of the game.
Use Margit’s shackle (sold by Patches in Murkwater Cave) to turn on/off any kind of fire pillar from basically anywhere. This makes all the dungeons that have them a cinch (and you can use them to remotely activate them while enemies are in the way, making them killer traps).

Usually, dodge TOWARDS enemy attacks, particularly their “sword arm” or wherever the attack is coming from. Most players try to dodge away or “back” from the attack, which usually still puts them in range of either a follow up attack or a sweeping motion. This still depends on the kind of attack but it’s good practice.
Poise is an often overlooked stat. Poise > 51 allows your character to power through most single enemy attacks rather than flinching. Stance damage is the damage you do to enemy’s poise, and is determine by the weapon type and any poise damage buffs. Starting players keep to the longsword or similar kinds of weapons, but you should experiment with different magic or weapon attacks to find what is the most poise damage you can do, because stance breaking GREATLY and EXPEDIENTLY simplifies almost EVERY encounter. If a player is struggling against a particular type of enemy, the answer is usually find a way to knock them DOWN.

Finally. Elden Ring / Dark Souls has a notorious reputation for being difficult. This is only partially true. The difficulty comes from a player’s unwillingness to experiment or investigate. You are given all the tools in the game to succeed, even easily in most cases. Whether you use those tools is up to you. Some players willingly avoid using things like upgraded Spirit Ashes, Physiks, buffs, etc, to make their game more challenging, but new players should definitely use everything at their disposal!

TRIPP VR tips by Parisa Rose and Marya Gullo

Experience blissful, flowing joy while playing video games after you listen to this Calm topic:
Gaming without Attachment to Outcome (Categories: Personal Growth, Relaxation, Awareness, Happiness, Stress Management)

Marya Gullo
If you TRIPP in the longest version of the calm experience Silhouettes, the creatures behave differently than in the shorter experiences.

Bioshock tip by Nanea Reeves

Rescue, don’t harvest the Little Sisters in Bioshock. There are rewards to being kind.

Zelda: Ocarina of Time tip by Cody Char

Ocarina of Time jar glitch: replace any useless items in your inventory with a jar. Go up to a farie, fish, bug or anything else you can capture in a jar. Assign a jar to one of the C buttons, swing the jar to capture something but mid swing press pause, swap the jar for another item. Unpause and a new jar will take over the item you swapped in your inventory. Use with caution because you could block your progress in the game if you override a crucial inventory item.

Diablo II tip by Michael Lewis

Diablo II — Power Leveling

Level 1 – 15: Repeatedly clear Tristram
Level 15 – 24: Clear Tal Rasha Tomb / Cows
Level 24: Complete Rite of Passage
Level 25 – 40: Repeatedly clear Baal
Level 40: Complete Rite of Passage (nightmare difficulty).
Level 41-60: Repeatedly clear Chaos Sanctuary or Baal
Level 60: Complete Rite of Passage (hell)

Super Mario Bros. tips by Cody Char and Manual Palli

Mario Bros. 1 – make your way to the top row of blocks on the level 2 cave. Run past the end where there are hidden tubes that lead to later levels.

Manuel Palli
I’m going to chip in with the first easter egg or hack in a game that blew my mind. I still remember how windblown I was when my brother showed it to me.
In Super Mario Bros. 3, there’s this neat trick in World 1-3. Near the end of the level, you’ll spot a white block. My brother taught me that if you stand on it and crouch for a few seconds, Mario will fall through like it’s not even there. Suddenly, you’re behind the scenery, running to the end of the level. That’s where you find the secret Toad House with the magic flute. This item lets you warp to almost any world you want. It felt like discovering a whole new layer of the game.

Demeo tip by Cassandra McDonald

When playing Reign of Madness in Demeo, have someone in your party play the Warlock. Save any consuming vortexes to use on the Elven Summoner once they are at half health to take them down quickly.

Baldur’s Gate 3 tip by Justin Taber

Baldur’s Gate 3 – if your Druid is in Bear form, be careful not to crush any of your own party members when jumping down from higher ground.

Last of Us tip by Nanea Reeves

For time-crunched “old gamers” playing Last of Us, play on easy mode so you don’t have to dedicate a lot of time hunting for resources.

Population one tip by George Beecher

Climb a tree in Pop1 and liberate people from their suffering with the Silenced MP9. (That’s a little session leader humor, right there)

Remember, it’s not about the destination, it’s about the journey. However, when it comes to video games, you’re going to want to try all the cool hacks too!
